Eagle Scout

Boy Scouts has been a journey across the world.  From St. Croix, the Keys, to the Adirondack Mountains.  If I ever get stuck in the woods with only a sleeping bag, and no tent,  I know I could survive the night.

My Eagle Scout Project

The majority of ash trees in New York are being killed because of the emerald ash bore, an invasive parasite.  The Jewish Community Center (JCC) has an entire ash forest that is being wiped out by these insects, and they projected in 10-20 years the majority of the forest will cease to exist.  This is why I dedicated my project to reforesting the woods behind the JCC.

The Project

My project consisted of planting twenty 10ft trees, as well as setting up protection, and water for them.  My project was executed with no issues or problems, and it was finished in two days, without the need for any monetary exchanges.  The project cost was $2000, however, we acquired all of the materials we needed through donations.

Lesson

During this project, I learned how to deal with donations, manage a team, and how to ask companies for help.   On top of this, I found that the world is not perfect, but everyone can do something to make it a better place for someone.  Taking an extra step to help someone can have a huge impact on who they are.
